L0phtCrack - a popular tool for accurate auditing and cracking passwords. The sixth version of L0phtCrack is designed by the same group of hackers, which has released the first version of the product for about ten years ago. The program has been withdrawn from circulation in 2005, after acquiring the rights to its distribution company Symantec. Triumphal return L0phtcrack held last Wednesday. List of implemented improvements include support for 64-bit processors, as well as new versions of leading operating systems from Microsoft, Ubuntu, and other manufacturers.
The annex also got tools for hash cracking NTLM (the algorithm that protects passwords with recent versions of the operating system, Windows). Reincarnation L0phtcrack became possible after the application developers bought the rights to it from the corporation Symantec.

Much has changed over the five years that have passed since the L0phtcrack 5, and a number of such changes is reflected in the new version. Thus, L0phtcrack 6 has support for 64-bit processors and the latest operating systems from Microsoft, Ubuntu and others. Information on L0phtCrack 6's current session is provided in an "immediate window" with a reporting tab providing up-to-the-minute status of the current auditing session.
